Differentiation With Technology

Joana Nicole Price EDU 551 Dr. Mostofo September 6th, 2022 For this assignment, I added 3 new technologies to my already tech-heavy lesson, as my school district is adamant we use the services purchased by the district for us. The first technology I incorporated was for the extension/enrichment component. I added 2-3 EdPuzzle assignments that students could choose through and select one that they are struggling with or want to learn more about. They can complete it at their own pace during their personal time. EdPuzzles are extremely engaging, as they feature YouTube videos and clips with questions, both multiple choice and open-ended, into the segment. They also aren't very long, so it doesn't drown the student with copious amounts of work. This promotes cultural perspectives, as most videos offer translations, and gives all students the choice in picking the EdPuzzle to complete. The next technology I added was a Jamboard response instead of a "parking lot" exit tic...

Differentiated Lesson Plan Reflection

Joana Nicole Price September 6th, 2022 EDU 551 Dr. Jim Mostofo I evaluated and chose instructional strategies that allowed for differentiation to flourish. A WebQuest is always a simple and efficient way to differentiate material to students, all while keeping them engaged in the learning by giving them a scavenger hunt to complete about the topic. Ancient Greece is not the most engaging and exciting topic to cover, so finding a way for them to enjoy the content is always a goal of mine. Not only does it keep them learning, they are also more likely to retain the information they learned if they are having fun while learning it. To prepare for this, I let all students know the day before that they will need charged laptops for class that day.  This assignment addresses the specific needs of students by aligning with the learning goal. For students that are ELLs, I would offer the text in their native languages and allow them to answer in that way, as well. For gifted lear...

Learning Styles Analysis

When looking at student data for this assignment, I see many similarities between a student’s learning style and their overall development. Those who are kinesthetic learners are outspoken, sports-oriented, and have trouble focusing within the traditional classroom setting. Students who are visual learners are more artistic than the others and excel in their academics. Although I surveyed no auditory students, those in that category typically are easily distracted yet can be focused when it matters. I plan to use this learning styles inventory to influence my planning by incorporating more hands-on activities, because I don’t think I am serving that part of my classroom with justice. It can be incredibly hard to find ELA strategies that involve making things with your hands, so this will require me to think outside of the box. I also want to bring in new visual strategies because I see myself using the same ones over and over again, and I don’t my students getting burned out on d...
